About

The person behind the camera

Hi, I'm Janet

Hi, I'm Janet

I've spent more than 20 years photographing people, places, and moments that matter. And after hundreds of weddings, I can tell you one thing for certain: no two love stories, no two celebrations, and no two couples are ever quite the same.

That's what I love about this work.

I believe wedding photography should be beautiful without feeling forced, artistic without losing its authenticity, and timeless without being predictable.

Most of all, I believe you should be able to look at your photographs years from now and remember exactly how it felt to be there.

Founder, lead photographer

A little artistry. A lot of heart.

I love an extraordinary portrait. Beautiful light, thoughtful composition, a little drama. The kind of photograph that makes you stop scrolling and look twice.

But I think what takes a photo to the next level is when it makes you really feel something. The nervous excitement before the ceremony. The way your grandmother lights up when she sees you. The images that make your heart beat a little faster, and take you right back to that moment.

My approach combines the artistry of editorial photography with the honesty of documentary storytelling.

Sometimes that means giving you a little direction to create something beautiful. Other times, it means knowing when to step back, be quiet, and let life happen.

Because I don't want your wedding photographs to look like someone else's perfect day.

I want them to look like yours.

Janet

I believe...

  • Real is better than "perfect".
  • Playing is better than posing.
  • The best way to get a genuine smile is to actually have a good time.
  • It's better to be a lot early than a little late.
  • Planning and preparation make for an easier day.

Experience Makes a Difference

Experience Makes a Difference

After more than two decades and hundreds of weddings, I've learned that being a great wedding photographer is about so much more than knowing how to use a camera.

It's about:
  • Anticipating a moment before it happens.
  • Reading the room.
  • Finding beautiful light in the most unexpected places.
  • Keeping everyone relaxed when the timeline runs late.
  • Having a plan while still rolling with the punches.
  • Knowing when to take charge, when to offer a little encouragement, and when to quietly disappear into the background.

I've had the opportunity to photograph incredible people, work on editorial assignments, and see my work published. Those experiences have shaped my creative eye and taught me to approach every assignment with both confidence and curiosity.

But some of my favorite photographs have nothing to do with elaborate venues or perfectly styled details. They're the moments when someone forgets the camera is there and simply lets themselves feel something.

That's the magic I'm always looking for.

My Other Ventures

When I'm Not Behind the Camera

  • I'm equally likely to watch (and love) a documentary as reality TV.
  • I love seeing a show at The Fabulous Fox Theater. My favorite musical is Come From Away.
  • I'm constantly learning new artistic hobbies, like painting, piano, calligraphy, illustrations, or crochet.
  • I love animals, and ran a home-based wildlife rehabilitation clinic for ten years.
  • I love to cook but hate grocery shopping.
  • I get an unreasonable amount of joy from good-smelling hand soap.
  • My ideal Sunday: brunch with friends, cat snuggles, a little football, and a nap.
  • My favorite part of a wedding is right after the ceremony, when the bride & groom are on an I-do high and the tension releases.
